More
Event Information:
This
is a four-day event including non-stop road racing with practice,
qualifying, short 30 minute races, 4 Hour enduros and finally the
56th annual 12-Hour event which starts at 10 AM Saturday and runs
a full 12 Hours. The weekend includes American Lemans Series LMP
(LeMans Prototype) 1, LMP2 (Including the BK Motorsports Mazda Lola
MZR-R B07,) Production-Based GT1 & GT2 racing in the 12 Hour.
SPEED World Challenge Touring & GT (As seen on SPEED Channel)
practice, qualifying and sprint and endurance races are also included.
Many other support race series also fill the weekend with road-racing
action for your enjoyment. All racing is rain-or-shine.
Mazda
Shugo Members will also be provided an opportunity to take at least
one parade lap of the track in their own Mazda behind the official
pace car courtesy of Mazda Motorsports Development.
Every
ticket to an ALMS race entitles the owner to access to the entire
track. Stands are minimal however viewing mounds are plentiful so
bring your lawn chair and cooler! The 3.7 mile 17-turn track is
stretched-out over a WWII-era partial air field and 100+ acres of
green pasture and pavement. Last year's attendance topped 110,000.
Ticket owners are provided with access to viewing of every corner
and straight-away.
Every
ticket to an ALMS race entitles the owner to 24 hour access to the
team paddocks enabling full view of car preparations, teams/ drivers
as well as the incredible machinery. Shugo members will be provided
with excusive invitation from Mazda Motorsports Development -Sponsored
teams to access to tech-talks, autograph sessions and activities
within the Mazda team compounds over the 4-day weekend.
Last
year the corral included 45 cars and more than 65 enthusiasts in
attendance. This year we have reserved a paved 100-car space on
the inside of turn one exclusively for registered Mazda owners and
enthusiasts. Shugo Corral passes will be sold on a first-come-first
serve basis as described below.
This
new corral location is where the aircraft hanger once sat. This
new space is located next to the track with less than 10 feet of
concrete and tire barriers separating Shugo members from the racing
action. This venue will provide viewing the start-finish, pit row
exit and a sweeping view of turn one including the dramatic transition
from concrete tarmac to narrow asphalt. This location is also very
easy to find as it is on the far-end of the main midway from the
entrance gate. The near-by walk over bridge provides direct access
to the team paddocks.
The
corral will include a hospitality tent with a live, closed circuit
cable feed, private port-a-johns, fencing, tables and chairs courtesy
of Classic Mazda. A large screen TV, wi-fi access, viewing stands
and at least two catered meals will be included courtesy of supporting
sponsors. With credentials explained below, Mazda owners will be
allowed to park their vehicles inside of this corral for all 4 days
of the event. The credentials will allow entry and exit of the track
24 hours a day per track rules. Tent camping is allowed inside of
the corral per track rules for all Shugo members.
In
addition to the Corral at the race, a free pre-race exhibition will
be hosted at the Classic Mazda Dealership Facility on Hwy 436 in
Orlando on the evening of March 8 to kick the race week off. The
free event will include appearances by several Mazda Race Teams
and drivers including a pre-race unveiling of the Mazda/ Lola MZR-R
that will race at the following weekend in Sebring as well as autograph
sessions with drivers, food and drinks! Please go to ClassicMazdaSpeed.com
for more information and to RSVP.
